++MESSAGE FROM THE COORDINATOR

Hi, Everyone,

I promised you a wonderful prayer report today—and you will have it!  I get so elated when someone shares a story of progress in their situation—little steps or big, giant steps of progress—it doesn’t matter!  God continues to move in our lives and the lives of our loved ones.  And each time we hear a testimony from one of our own, who has been praying for their prodigal, we get a little stronger, we get a little more determined to hang in there and pray, and

May we all continue to be blessed with the perseverance of St Monica and the patience of the father of the prodigal son as we continue to keep our prodigal loved ones, and each other, in prayer.

May God bless all of us and grant us His Peace.

Peace,

MaryAnn

PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR November 5, 2004

[Prayer intentions submitted to this group are shared only in the semi-weekly email update sent to members of the online prayer group.  Please keep all of us and our prodigals in your prayers--just as we will pray for you.]

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Here’s the prayer report I promised.  Names and locations are omitted so that privacy of all involved is protected. There are two letters—from the same member of this group.   ~MaryAnn

*****

First Letter:

Just wanted to share some great news.  My brother, was a non-practicing Catholic and married outside of the church, and now his wife and two children are coming back to the church. His wife is now taking classes to become Catholic, they still have a ways to go, but is a GREAT start. Now I can I have the strength to tackle my other brother and his girlfriend. This prayer group has been a great support for my and also my other family members. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow.

Second Letter (in response to my request to share her story with the group):

If you would like to share my story, that would be fine. My mom, youngest sister, and I went to that conference [KC Catholic Conf. at Avila U.] and my mom was the one that wanted to go to your speech. However, my mom was not able to stay because it was too difficult... My sister and I stayed and listened and it made a great impact on me…My mom didn't know that I joined the online prayer group. We all pray together when possible, but now it is emailing each other back and forth.[since I moved away] When my mom told me that my brother was coming back to the church AND his wife, my beloved sister-in-law wanted to take classes, we were both so happy.

My sister-in-law picked my mom as her sponsor. I am also happy because now my niece (she's four), who has a great devotion to Mary (I have many stories about it) and my nephew (eight months), are able to grow up in the church. I know to continue to pray for them and for strength for all of us.

Because sometimes it was a little hard for my family to talk about it, it was helpful to me to have the support of the online prayer group. I know that I can also help others by praying for them. We still need more help with my brother, who loves the Catholic Church, but I think does not feel worthy of it.

*****

I can add nothing to this, except to say “Let’s continue to trust God and use our “Silent Strength” to fight the battle. If you have seen progress in the battle for your prodigal’s return, please consider sharing your story with the rest of us.  Someone may gain a little extra strength to persevere if you do.   Peace, MaryAnn

GOD'S WORD FOR US

He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.   ~Psalm 91:15

WORDS OF HOPE

Whoever is wakeful and prayerful in the night, in this visible darkness he is surrounded by an invisible light.  ~St. Ephraem of Syria

You tell me you do not have the time to give two or three hours to prayer; who asks you to do so? No one can be excused from ejaculations because it can be made while coming and going about one's business. Recommend yourself to God the first thing in the morning, protest that you do not wish to offend Him, and then go about your affairs, resolved, nevertheless, to raise your spirit to God, even amidst company. ~St. Francis de Sales
