++MESSAGE FROM THE COORDINATOR

Hi, Everyone,

A few exciting things to share with you this week.  This time we welcome more new members.  Some have again found us through Johnette Benkovich’s radio program on EWTN, some learned of us from Kathy’s letter to the editor that was printed in Our Sunday Visitor, and others have found us because one of you cared enough to tell them.  Please consider phoning or emailing EWTN or OSV to thank them for spreading our message. (Also, I missed the issue of OSV that had the letter.  If anyone has a copy, would you please send it to me.  Kathy wrote in response to a woman who had written a book on how to keep your children Catholic.  It was printed sometime in September.)

Because he read about us in the OSV letter, I was contacted by Father James Kubiki who is the National Director of the Apostleship of Prayer.  Father said he meets many people who are hurting and feeling helpless because of a prodigal loved one.  He encouraged us to continue this effort and intends to direct those people to us from now on.  Once more God is at work and we are not even aware of it.  Remember, He’s at work in your prodigal’s life, too.

We rejoice at the formation of a new Silent Strength prayer group at St Patricks in Onalaska, WI.  One of their members has been with us a long time. When I spoke in LaCrosse it was wonderful to meet Brenda in person and put a face to the name.  We welcome all of you to the Marian Mantle family.

October 7 we celebrate Our Lady of the Rosary.  How she has blessed us!  How she has protected and comforted her children for centuries!  What a special month this is, especially when it follows September, the month of Our Lady of Sorrows.  Say an extra Hail Mary in honor of the Mother of God and ask her to pray for our prodigals and grant them the grace they need.

May God grant each of us the perseverance of St. Monica and the unconditional love of the father of the Prodigal Son.  May the day come swiftly when we, too, are able to say “the child for whom I have prayed has come home.”

Peace,

MaryAnn

WISH LIST

We got a wonderful response to our request for volunteers.  My thanks to all those who volunteered.

+We still need some “pray-from-home” volunteers.  Again, this can be done from anywhere.  If you would be willing to spend time in prayer for special needs as they arise—such as, during Silent Strength seminars, praying for volunteers to appear,  and other needs, please email MaryAnn.

+So far only one person has written about an experience with the Blessed Sacrament.   I’m know many of you have something to share with the rest of us regarding the Eucharist.  Pause for a moment and listen.  Is the Blessed Mother nudging you a little to tell us about it?  That’s probably because your story will help someone else.  So often when something is shared in this update I get an email saying “That’s just what I needed to hear.  I know God was speaking to me through those words.”  Won’t you please share with us?.  Why, what, who, whatever you have to relate about the Blessed Sacrament in your life and the lives of those you love, I would like to hear it.  We will not print your name if you wish to remain anonymous.  Please email to MaryAnn@MarianMantle.com or write to Marian Mantle Group, PO Box 434, Gardner, KS  66030.  New members!  You are most welcome to share your thoughts and experiences, too.  Don’t be shy!  We’re glad to hear from you!

+As always, we need stamps  They are always at the top of our needs list.

+Again, I appeal for those who would consider writing for our newsletter.  We will not print your name if you wish to remain anonymous.  You DO NOT need to be a talented writer to write for our newsletter.  We need your thoughts.  We will gladly edit your writing once we receive it.  You write.  I’ll get it in the newsletter.  Email me.  Maryann@MarianMantle.com

GOD'S WORD FOR US

For with God nothing will be impossible."

And Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word."

And the angel departed from her.  ~ Luke 1:37-38

WORDS OF HOPE

That is the hope that inspires Christians.  We know that every effort to better society, especially when injustice and sins are so ingrained, is an effort that God blesses, that God wants, that God demands of us.  ~Archbishop Oscar Romero

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

+ Dear Mary Ann,

The peace of Christ!  I read the recent letter to the editor in the Our Sunday Visitor and so was able to find out about your good work.  I also went to your web site.

I wanted to send you this message as a sign of support.  What you are doing is very good and important.  I give a lot of retreats and parish missions and I always encounter parents and grandparents concerned about young relatives wandering from the faith.  It is good to know that I can now direct them to you and to your organization.  People feel so helpless and you are helping them to know that they are not alone and that their prayers may be joined to those of many others.

This is what we try to do as well in the Apostleship of Prayer (www.apostlesofprayer.org).  I'll keep the Marian Mantle in mind next year when I do our web site's daily reflection for the feast of St. Monica.  That way I can direct our web site readers to you as well.

            God bless you!

 Fr. James Kubicki, S.J.

National Director, Apostleship of Prayer

+Dear Friend,

Have you ever found yourself in a difficult situation — hopeless? Do you know someone who is struggling through a trying time in life at this very moment?  Join us for the St. Jude special Novena, October 19 - 27, at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.  St. Jude Thaddeus is the patron saint of hopeless and desperate situations. He learned right from Jesus the true meaning of mercy, faith and complete trust in God which can solve any situation, no matter how difficult.

By enrolling yourself or a friend in our St. Jude Novena, your prayers will be united with those of the Marian Fathers and Brothers here at the National Shrine as we ask the intercession of St. Jude.  This special novena ends October 28 during a special Mass on the Feast of St. Jude. If you wish, we will light a seven-day votive candle giving hope to your St. Jude Novena intentions as well.

Through the intercession of St. Jude,

Fr. Joseph, MIC

Director, Association of Marian Helpers

Eden Hill, Stockbridge, MA 01263
